2K MT unskippable ads"will be fixed", says 2K
2K states the unskippable advertisements included in NBA 2K were implemented in a way the publisher"didn't intend," and that the error"will be repaired." In an overview on Twitter, the business addressed backlash to the way commercials were contained in its most recent release. Before this week, players observed that an unskippable advert for your Oculus Quest two ahead of an in-game video. That advert appeared to run during a loading screen, but was exactly the same length even when running with an SSD on a PC (through Stevivor). Participants hailed 2K for the ad, with many imagining it was appearing in a full-priced title.
In reaction, 2K educated players that commercials"have been integrated into 2KTV segments" for a couple of years, but stated that"yesterday 2KTV ad placement influenced our players' experience in a way we didn't intend, as these advertisements are not intended to run as part of the pre-game introduction." Because of this, the problem"will be fixed in future episodes," although there's no word on exactly when the change will be implemented. It doesn't sound as though the adverts will truly be going away. 2K points out that they've been in place for a little while already, and that the problem here seems to be in which the ad showed up, not the simple fact that it was there in the first location. Hopefully the placements will probably be subtle in future, but it looks like in-game ads are set to be a part of the NBA 2K games for a little while yet....
