A quick Google search for either of RuneScape Gold these terms results in hundreds of websites several of them having one of the words in their URLs, and that provide currencies in RuneScape to exchange real money. It was announced on October 13 that Jagex announced that it was ending in "real-world trading". In a blog post on its blog "The RuneScape Team" stated that "gold purchased through RWT real-world trading is a problem in any online game with a tradeable currency."
Jagex announces that it will begin sending "messages to those we've identified that are engaged within RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone involved, we'd like to be clear that this is your sole or only warning" it added.
The announcement also included the news regarding the games PvP mode, Duel Arena, would see sweeping changes that included an increased enforcement of game's code of conduct in order to encourage positive gaming. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a trigger to this kind of toxic behavior".
Before that, however what the publisher refers to as "short-term measures" will be in place "until our development teams are able bring a major update to fully replaces Duel Arena in the next year."
Is RuneScape worth playing in 2022?
RuneScape hasn't been around for over 20 years simply because it's an average game that doesn't have anyone committing to for the long haul. As an MMORPG is part of a genre that seems to be always on the edge of demise despite the popularity in a small number of games.
