In a brand-new event that runs from OSRS Gold now until December 3, 2022, players will have the chance to receive a new version of the iconic "Partyhat" it's an item that was initially only offered during OSRS Gold a Christmas celebration that was held in 2001. Originally available in red, green, yellow, blue or white in RuneScape's "The Golden Party Hat Hunt" quest will let players to obtain one of the most sought-after cosmetics with a metallic shine.
The party hats originally only available in limited numbers for a brief time, but have since been removed the lucky player to have one can sell them for billions of game coins. Even though the hats are purely decorative and offer no statistics, they're right now among the top items on the Grand Exchange, hitting the highest price of 2.1billion gold in 2015.
To obtain the heads of the Golden Party Hat, players must fulfill "various goals" and collect eight golden shards to reward their efforts. Once all eight have been earned, they are combined into the Golden Party Hat.
But, not only is the game limited in duration and only one golden hat is designed for each participant. Like their 2001 predecessors, Jagex says of the golden hats that "after the cut-off time they will not be earned again!"
It is unclear if the new item affects the game's economy and decreases the value of existing partyhats or becomes a new and more expensive item is yet to be determined. Jagex will be celebrating the occasion all the same and will transform the game's Grand Exchange location into "a Golden Party Hat winter wonderland".
The golden hat is the apex event (sorry) to the year-long 20th anniversary celebrations. It's launching in conjunction with the popular partyhat event is the fourth and last part of the anniversary challenge Buy RS Gold, Once Upon a Time, which runs all through the throughout the year.
