Heartland siding
ProVia stated that its Heartland Siding has an advantage over rival fiber cement.
PVC Vinyl siding is still the preferred cladding choice for residential builders and remodelers, but fiber cement is getting some PVC extruders at an alarming rate, followed by stucco and bricks.

According to data, the market share of plastic construction materials dropped from 39% in 2003 to 27% in 2013.

Fortunately for vinyl siding manufacturers, the overall siding demand in 2018 is expected to grow by 7.1% annually to reach 103.5 million square meters. The Cleveland-based market research company sets the total value at 12.1 billion US dollars.

Although vinyl is losing its share of competing materials, forecasters say the siding market will grow as construction and replacement activities rebound after the recession. Last year's demand for 73.5 million square meters of siding is expected to increase by another 30 million square meters in the next four years.

The area of a square is 100 square feet, or 10 feet x 10 feet.

According to Freedonia analysts, the demand share of vinyl siding in 2013 was 20.1 million square meters. In 2018, it should grow by about 5.2% annually to 25.9 million square meters, which is slightly lower than the number in 2008.

However, fiber cement siding is still a strong and somewhat worrying runner-up. The demand is expected to increase from 13.8 million square meters in 2013 to 20.5 million square meters in 2018, an annual growth of 8.2%.

Freedonia said that stucco will remain the third most popular siding in the United States, and it will grow by 8.2% every year. By 2018, the demand for wood siding will increase by 4.5%. Even so, timber may lose its fourth place in the next few years, and is expected to achieve the largest annual increase of 9.6%.

"Other" construction projects, including polypropylene siding, constitute the balance of materials used.

Some trends have played a role in the siding reorganization, including slower population growth and renovation activities in the Midwest and Northeast—traditional vinyl strongholds—and builders’ preference for mixed cladding materials, such as bricks or bricks on the bottom of houses. The rest of the stone is vinyl.

To stay ahead, vinyl siding manufacturers continue to introduce bolder colors, improve thermal performance, and promote advantages related to price and quality.

"It may be too early to say that there is a problem with vinyl siding," said Simon Bates, vice president and general manager of the Royal Building Products Division, which is part of the Royal Group of Companies.

According to the current ranking of Plastic News, Royal Group is headquartered in Woodbridge, Ontario, and is the third largest pipe, profile and pipe extruder in North America, with PPT sales of US$849.9 million.

More and more sales come from Celect Cellular Exteriors, and Bates said that the product has been sold out twice since it went on sale at the end of 2012. A manufacturing plant in Bristol, Tennessee will be expanded to keep up with orders for honeycomb PVC. The siding not only mimics the appearance of wood, but also has a seamless interlocking and strong Kynar Aquatec paint finish, available in 18 colors.

"There are no obvious seams," Bates said in a telephone interview. "You don't have to stuff it. You have a freshly painted wood look and a 25-year non-fading warranty. We don't allow anything to be called zero maintenance, but it is very low maintenance."

Royal's Celect series is competing with cedar planks and fiber cement.

"It's somewhere in between-more expensive than fiber cement, but cheaper than cedar planks," Bates said.

He added that several sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, tracked the use of cladding, and they showed that vinyl siding has a higher share of the top spot. Census data shows that among the single-family houses completed in 2013, 31% of the single-family houses mainly use vinyl materials, while the proportion of bricks is 25%, the proportion of stucco is 22%, and the proportion of fiber cement is 16%.

"There are various data points out there, and we are trying to understand them better in our own way," Bates said.
In fact, WPC wall cladding is also a competitor to siding, but for our manufacturers, there is no big difference.
