Other classes are available too. The Gon Destroyer slots into what I would consider Blade and Soul Neo’s closest equivalent to a tank, and the Lyn Summoner, which is kind of a healer. Aggro swapping is a popular technique, with players juggling the attention of the boss to give party members room to breathe and heal. There is also some cross pollination with the classes the Blade Master can be selected by the Jin and Yun, the Forcemaster can be played by Jin, Yun, and Gon, the Kung-Fu Master by the Jin, Gon, and Yun, and the Summoner and Destroyer unique to the Lyn and Gon respectively. Blade and Soul Neo will roll out other classes, like the Warlock, through a planned update this spring. So if you’re looking to try out that class, you’re better off waiting. Because leveling Blade and Soul is a chore by comparison to modern MMORPGs. As to be expected, the grind is relatively slow. You get experience from side-quests, main scenario quests, and class specific quests, which are designated with color coordinated markers. The main scenario quests don’t provide enough experience to get you through the story unbothered, so you’ll want to pick up some side-quests along the way, which do help flesh out the world, even if objectives are as menial as picking a specific amount of flowers for an NPC or burning the bodies of jiangshi. You can also just do the main scenario and class quests if you want, it’ll just be a touch harder. But that’s where the fun comes in. Since Blade and Soul Neo is so skill based, you can tackle bosses and challenges at significantly lower levels and sometimes walk away victorious. It can take awhile to whittle these bosses down (which feel like they have inflated health pools in Neo), but it is possible. Better weapons do help, which can be obtained through quests or in-game gacha wheels that are littered throughout the handful of regions currently available in the game, along with Soul Shields. Soul Shields are where your stats come from, and you can customize what you want to prioritize, like attack and critical hits, and so forth. Sometimes Soul Shields from the earlier eras of the game might suit your playstyle more, and you can mix and match to varying effect. While some areas of Diablo 4 are instanced, there will be areas where you are able to run into other players, in which you struggle against them, or may potentially team up together. I also am uncertain how I think about shared world areas in a series that I have appreciated farming for more than a decade today. I am wondering if it's optional to have those instances with other gamers, or if it's going to be like Destiny where you literally cannot load into patrol zones by yourself.You can now ride mounts in Diablo 4, and also with this big, giant open world you'll be travelling less by going from teleporter to teleporter, and more by riding your mount around. I'm wondering how that will affect speed farming functions and only getting from point A to point B isn't a terribly interesting part of the sport, and I wonder if the entire idea of mounts was made just so...Diablo could sell mounts. This was just confirmed on flow. It is not clear just what Diablo 4 will be selling, but"decorative microtransactions" is enough to raise eyebrows in any loot-based game, simply ask Destiny, which is always at war with its playerbase within precisely the same matter. Diablo 4 boasted a transmorg system so that you could look however that did not cost anything and you wanted. However, what if Diablo 4 disagrees that with compensated"decorations" or something. That...would not be great. Diablo 4 finally started experimenting with selling items but nothing really stuck. It is possible these microtransactions may be nice and nothing, or else they might be a measure down from past games. We are going to see. For the most part, my time in Blade and Soul NEO has been interesting enough in terms of fights but not so intense that I really felt threatened. As I wrote last week, the switch to the Assassin definitely made me sit up and take notice, but as things have worn on, I’ve sort of felt as if I am entering a bit of a routine. That has slowly begun to change, however, and I’m starting to think that perhaps the Assassin is a bit of a self-own in the later levels. Or it’s a class that I can’t wait to unpeel and learn to master. I’m still not sure which side I fall on right now. Before I start to absorb my thoughts there, I should report in on what happened when I followed the previous polls results, which was to put on the PvP outfit and see whether or not that would change my overall experience. It most definitely did not: I had it on for a couple of hours and ran around doing the story and side quests as usual completely unmolested. About the only time that I was killed from someone on the opposing faction was when I was doing a PvP-specific quest, and even then I’m pretty sure that was an NPC and not another player. After a little while, I elected to just ignore that whole thing, put on my previous pantless ninja girl outfit (we all know that pantslessness improves stealth and combat effectiveness by about 30%), and continued the F Key Smash Train, picking up all of the yellow and blue quest arrows while killing all of the 10 rats or entering into another one of three similarly styled instanced cave maps. If this reads like exhaustion, then that’s good because that’s what I was feeling. The levels were starting to come less frequently, as were the additional skills to hit, so I was beginning to hit a routine. Or more appropriately a rut. But then at some point, I was kicked out of the frying pan and into the fire. Unfortunately, this means that any cosmetics acquired and progress made by veterans in the original game do not carry over to Blade and Soul Neo. The new release is a separate experience, independent of the original game. The most obvious change is graphical, with Blade and Soul Neo better leveraging Unreal Engine 4. This includes improved texture details, better lighting, and a cleaner user interface (UI). In addition to UE4 graphical fidelity and visual effects, Neo adds new animations. Blade and Soul Neo will launch with only seven playable classes: Assassin, Blade Dancer, Blade Master, Destroyer, Force Master, Kung Fu Master, and Summoner. Many classes introduced over the years, including Astromancer, Dual Blade, Gunslinger, Soul Fighter, Warden, and Warlock, will not be playable at launch. Advanced class specializations are no more. The current Blade and Soul features three elemental play styles for each class, which can be further customized for PvE and PvP specializations. Blade and Soul Neo streamlines this system to a single skill tree per ability, letting you swap between PvE or PvP variations.
