As to be expected, the grind is relatively slow. You get experience from side-quests, main scenario quests, and class specific quests, which are designated with color coordinated markers. The main scenario quests don’t provide enough experience to get you through the story unbothered, so you’ll want to pick up some side-quests along the way, which do help flesh out the world, even if objectives are as menial as picking a specific amount of flowers for an NPC or burning the bodies of jiangshi. You can also just do the main scenario and class quests if you want, it’ll just be a touch harder. But that’s where the fun comes in. Since Blade and Soul Neo is so skill based, you can tackle bosses and challenges at significantly lower levels and sometimes walk away victorious. It can take awhile to whittle these bosses down (which feel like they have inflated health pools in Neo), but it is possible. Better weapons do help, which can be obtained through quests or in-game gacha wheels that are littered throughout the handful of regions currently available in the game, along with Soul Shields. Soul Shields are where your stats come from, and you can customize what you want to prioritize, like attack and critical hits, and so forth. Sometimes Soul Shields from the earlier eras of the game might suit your playstyle more, and you can mix and match to varying effect. And while you might be grinding for experience, the real grind is with the aforementioned gacha system. World bosses will spawn in each zone, and you’ll likely be able to find where that location is since players (and bots) will be camping the area. Deal enough damage to the boss and you’ll get a drop that will let you spin the wheel of fortune a prize. This includes Soul Shields, random weapon caches, and even cosmetics which is where the real end-game is. I cannot tell you the amount of time I spent in The Scorching Sands and Gloomdross Forest, not for weapons and Soul Shields, but for outfits. We had been given a timed demo that took us into the overworld, out of a location. I played with three times with three distinct personalities: the Barbarian, the Sorceress, and the Druid. I began other creatures of this catacomb and skeletons. I crawled through a hole in the ground full of skulls to make it into the surface. The planet itself is a great deal of farmland and ordinary individuals just hoping to get by in a land, as you might suspect. A good deal of landscapes which have been provided a touch of gray faded, as if the life has been sapped from it. When I made my way back I advised what had occurred there, getting a reward and a woman about the catacombs of her family. I then found a home with a boy raving mad about something, which led me to the docks at which the natives feared something had gone awry. (I took on this assignment all times to try stuff out) Once I make my way up to the coast, I put in a cave that was once flooded and has now become a series of caves to explore. After fighting off some enemies down of your Diablo variety, I came across a bog witch. She had been three times my size and twice as successful. This is a mission I came near to beating my own but her attacks came in so frequent it was clear I had more time at a better strategy on the clock, I had to find some help. I liked the demonstration. This felt as if I moved back into Diablo 4, with a cleaner landscape and travel choices. The encounters were not overwhelming and cool. It was nice to see different players and understand that if I wished to, then I could follow along on whatever assignment they were working on. The NPC encounters are exactly what they are, rather stiff people hanging out waiting for one to come do something. Nonetheless, it is a demo, so I'm going to forgive them and determine what happens in the rest of the development prior to the game comes out. However, the graphics were amazing all the way around.
